History
In 2004, a group of young adults from Trinity Presbyterian Church in Santa Ana sponsored an area-wide Justice Conference, with Gary Haugen, President of International Justice Mission as keynote speaker. Out of that event, and desiring to be more active in the community, several people in Santa Ana were interviewed to discern from the community itself what they saw as their greatest needs. Sponsoring an after-school homework and tutoring center emerged as a project. Partnering with Young Life, a local church plant, a UCI professor and a private foundation, the French Court Learning Center was formed and opened its doors in December 2005 in the French Court district. In 2008, at the invitation of First Presbyterian Church of Santa Ana we changed our name to La Semilla and became a stand-alone center at First Presbyterian Church.
