La Semilla Helped Lupe Get the Start She Needed

Lupe will graduate in 2025 with a degree in Electrical Engineering from Chapman University.
LLupe was one of our first students at La Semilla. Her mother, an English Language Learner, knew that she was limited in her ability to give the academic support that Lupe needed. When she heard about La Semilla, she immediately enrolled her daughter. Lupe thrived at La Semilla, and began to excel academically. This success continued all the way through high school and on into college.
Lupe will graduate in 2025 with a degree in Electrical Engineering from Chapman University. She plans to work and eventually go back for a master’s and doctorate degree. Lupe’s mother says this wouldn’t have been possible without La Semilla. La Semilla’s support has transformed her life and opened up opportunities for her future.
Lupe says of her time at La Semilla, “I don’t think I would be where I am without La Semilla. There are so many tutors (to name a few Mrs. Kris, Mrs. Jennifer, and Mrs. Patty) that gave me the confidence that every kid needs. They helped me build good study habits and a good relationship with doing homework. I think having the opportunity to be in La Semilla has given me the confidence to know I have/will always have a great support system.”
“I think back to my mom trying to find ways to help me be a better student and have as many resources as possible to succeed and nothing comes close to La Semilla. Being able to form positive habits and slowly gain academic independence was probably the most useful skill. My academic journey has always stayed that way, I did not like to leave my homework until the end, and I know that those habits were created at La Semilla.”
